Nuclear power shut-off valve

The Globe valve opens and closes by rotating the handwheel to drive the valve stem, causing the valve disc to move up and down along the center line of the valve seat. When the valve disc leaves the valve seat, fluid passes through the gap between the valve disc and the valve seat, and the valve is in an open state; When the valve disc is tightly attached to the valve seat, it prevents fluid from passing through and the valve is in a closed state.

Nuclear power shut-off valve is a type of shut-off valve in the critical pipeline system of a nuclear power plant, used to control the on/off of the medium and completely block the flow when needed. Its design needs to meet the strict requirements of high safety, high reliability, and long life of nuclear power plants, especially in the isolation and regulation functions of key circuits such as reactor cooling systems and safety injection systems, which is one of the core components to ensure nuclear power safety.

Key points for installation and maintenance of nuclear power shut-off valves

Installation requirements: The valve body arrow must be consistent with the flow direction of the medium. When installed vertically, the valve stem should be in a vertical position. When installed horizontally, the valve stem should be avoided from being subjected to lateral forces. When installing in a radioactive area, it is necessary to ensure that the valve operating mechanism is located outside the shielding layer or equipped with a remote drive device.

Maintenance standard: Conduct leakage testing every 1-2 years to ensure sealing performance; Perform non-destructive testing every 5 years to inspect the corrosion and wear of the valve body and stem.

Special handling: Maintenance in radioactive environments requires wearing protective equipment and using specialized tools for quick disassembly and assembly to reduce personnel exposure to radiation; Replacement parts must undergo radioactive contamination testing, and scrapped parts should be treated as nuclear waste.
