Flat Gate valves are designed according to the API 6D standard and are widely used in oil and gas transmission pipelines. The flat gate valve is equipped with a guide hole and can be cleaned by a cleaning ball. When designing flat gate valves, pressure drop reduction is adopted, while also preventing some debris such as mud from entering the valve cavity.

Working principle of flat gate valve

The flat gate valve is controlled to open and close by a gate (flat plate) that moves up and down in a direction perpendicular to the fluid channel. There is a through-hole on the gate that is the same as the inner diameter of the pipeline. When opened, the gate rises and the through-hole aligns with the pipeline, allowing fluid to pass through without obstruction; When closed, the gate descends and its sealing surface tightly adheres to the valve seat, cutting off the fluid. Some types (such as double gate) use medium pressure or spring force to push the gate, enhancing sealing performance.

Working principle and performance advantages of flat gate valve

Workflow: The valve stem drives the gate to move upward, completely disengaging from the valve seat, and the fluid passes through the straight channel with almost zero resistance;

The gate moves downwards, and the sealing surface is tightly attached to the valve seat. If it is a double gate structure, the spring will push the gate to tightly adhere to the valve seat, forming a two-way seal.

Performance advantages

When fully open, the flow channel is unobstructed, especially suitable for high viscosity media or fluids with solid particles; The sliding trajectory of the gate is simple, and the dual gate structure can automatically compensate for wear, reducing the risk of impurity blockage; Most flat gate valves support bidirectional flow sealing, and there is no need to strictly distinguish the flow direction of the medium during installation; The model with diversion holes can be directly passed through the pipeline cleaner, reducing maintenance costs.
